Are you Athletic?

How do you know?

Do you have a large frame?
Are you muscular?
Do you have a large bust and/or broad shoulders?

If you fit into this category, you should probably choose a prom dress that will give you a feminine silhouette, such as a ballgown. The full skirt immediately adds shape to your body and waistline. As far as the style of top you should go with? Stay away from wide straps or sleeves! This style will actually make you appear wider. Try a strapless prom dress on, or a halter with thin, decorated straps is also a good choice. Check out these Mori Lee Prom Dresses Below, because we are your official Mori Lee Retailer!!

Why choose a corset back dress for Prom?

January 26th, 2010

No, we aren’t in the 18th century – but there is a reason we still rock fashions from way back when! There is something incredibly elegant about the corset, and although you may think, “How uncomfortable!”, you’d actually be surprised. This fashion forward style does does have tight lacing and shapely bone supports, in some cases, but as they are designed especially to embrace a woman’s curves they really aren’t uncomfortable. When combined with a ballgown skirt, the corset creates a formal wear combo that just screams Cinderella-meets-prom-queen, very classic!

The other great thing about about corset dresses is they are an easy fit, and is much easier on alterations, perhaps even eliminating the needs for them completely. A size 4 dress will generally fit anybody from a 2 to a 6. This is great when ordering dresses online, because you are sure to get a great fit every time!! So go wild and check out some of our favorite corset styles below.

Short or Long for prom? Why choose when you can have the best of both!!

January 15th, 2010

With all the talk about prom coming up, everyone is getting into a frenzy about what kind of dress to wear. While some of you ladies know exactly what you want, others aren’t so sure. One of the first questions you may ask yourself, though, is should I go short or long?  As we’ve written before, short dresses are beyond hot this year. They made a comeback last year, but in 2010 you should see more and more girls rocking short gowns that show off their legs. And while they may be a great choice (especially those Sherri Hill shorts!) there is also something to be said about the traditional long prom gown. Elegant, fairytale looks are classic and definitely stunning. Still can’t decide? Well, luckily, you dont have to! A trend we’ve seen emerge on the runways and red carpets this year is the tiered and sheared prom gown – and we have plenty for you to choose from! Check out these styles below (click to shop), and go with a new look at prom and make your 2010 one to remember!!

Newly engaged Katy Perry is Glamour Magazine’s February 2010 Covergirl! Always rocking fierce outfits, this girl is most defintily a style icon. While some of her looks are a little too wacky for our taste (her Hello Kitty fetish is a big turn off – aren’t you 25?), this cute little cheetah number is right up our ally!! We’re loving the blue cheetah, the accessories, and the frilly fun skirt – the whole look is just glamorous! You can easily get this look for Prom, Homecoming, or even a night out on the town with your girls with our large selection of dresses. We’ve matched up a few of our 2010 looks to hers below – and with some of the styles as low as $175, these looks can’t be beat! Click on the dress to shop the style.
