Go Textural with your Black and White!
January 21st, 2010With all the crazy new colors popping up this Spring, it’s important to remember that a classic dress never goes out of style. As I have blogged about before, black and white is always classic, always in vogue. Although you can always find a great look that fits into that category, this time around, the trend is reincarnated into textures! Beading, ruching, sheer fabrics and all of the above have found their way to black and white fashions lately. Check out these celebs and their fab black and white textural styles….
In this economy, it’s hard to justify a splurge spending on something wild and ultra trendy that will go out of style in a season or two. Our quick fix? Invest in something that is going to last – great fabrics and feminine touches are two things that will never go out of style. We’ve got so many different looks at Dress Therapy for you, so check out some of the styles below that go hand in hand with this blossoming trend! Sherri Hill, the queen of classy, vintage, and feminine prom dresses, has really focused on this trend through out her 2010 collection. Goodbye, Damsel in Distress! There’s a new chick in town.
December 29th, 2009Sharon Graubard, a senior executive with Stylesight, a trend forecasting firm in New York, has been quoted as saying “Women now want to project a more powerful sexuality, not a damsel in distress.” This statement perfectly highlights one of this seasons hottest trends – letting go of the sweet, soft side that we all have and channeling our inner strength. In these harsh economic times, women are turning to dark colors, sharp angles, and hard silhouettes – and thats all over the formal wear spectrum with the 2010 collections at Dress Therapy. Check out some of our baddest bad girl styles below, and click on the photo to shop the style. From Jovani to La Femme and on through Sherri Hill, we have the hottest styles at the best prices!
Turn your Spring styles into Winter Frocks with 5 easy steps!
November 30th, 2009Hey ladies! Just because the cool weather has set in doesn’t mean you have to pack up all your summer clothes and jersey dresses. At Dress Therapy, we want you to make the most out of your wardrobe by stretching it as far as it can go, and using accessories to brighten things up and create a whole new look for winter. Check out these easy steps below that can help you transform your spring or summer look into a great outfit that will keep you looking trendy and feeling warm!
1. Take a short dress out of your closet and slip it on (We’re going to use Sherri Hill 2220 for our example). Something slightly form-fitting that will stay close to your body and keep it warm, while still showing off your figure. Don’t be afraid to use bright colors: they pop out in the winter and show some personality against the black and browns that many people turn to when the weather gets cold!
2. Slip on some black leggings underneath for a day look, or a sheer black hose for a dressier night look. Textured tights are totally in this season, so shop around for some – when paired with the right dress it can really add dimension to your look!
3. Throw on a boyfriend cardigan. These long knit sweaters aren’t going out of style anytime soon, so grab one out of your closet and leave it unbuttoned. Cinch it in at your natural waist with a skinny belt – black, if you want to go natural, or a silver or gold to spice up the look for the holidays.
4. Boots! Boots are going to be all the rage this season, so depending on the style you want to go for, pair your look with knee high boots, a cute high-heeled ankle bootie, or if you want to go more traditional, a pair of plain suede pumps looks fantastic as well. (If you want to go for a day-time look, bright flats or flat ankle boots work great!)
5. Accessorize! Throw on a cute hat and a warm scarf; a clutch purse for the night look or messenger bag for day. Add some bangle bracelets, a cute pair of earrings or other statement piece of jewelry, and you are ready to rock this summer-to-winter look!
Sherri Hill 2010 Prom Collection
November 16th, 2009We hope you’re ready for the jaw-dropping preview of Sherri Hill’s 2010 Prom and formal wear collection. With every bit of glamour you expect from this industry benchmark setter, this collection of designs is unmatched its comprehensiveness; there is a design for every one of your fashion moods:
Short & Sultry
Imagine all the impact of a long gown packed into a shorter, slinkier design. More so than ever before this year’s Prom collection contains cocktail length creations that are sure to be coveted for their meticulous eye for styling. There are designs that play on the classic little black dress; delicate lace, tailored two piece constructions, and timeless color opposites that pop against one another. Purposeful metallic detailing compliments the crafted fit of some, with each dart and curve hugging line accentuated in fine beadwork, sequin, and crystals.
Flirty Frills
A best selling design without question, Sherri Hill returns with her youthful fit-and-flare cocktail length design. Strapless necklines with sweetheart constructions fall to fitted bodices and full skirts. These styles undoubtedly will become scarce, chosen for their whimsical bows, waist sashes, brooch highlights, crocheted lace overlays, and sequin studded bodices. The icing on these delicious designs is the signature full tulle skirts; meticulously layered and finished with a curly hemline. These designs allow for the princess feel of a full ball gown with the ease of a day dress.
Extra, extra, Bead all about it
Matched only by its indulgent fabrics, the 2010 Prom collection is a great example of how more can truly be more. For stunning impact, heavily sequined and beaded designs are included to balance out the subtly simple frocks. Drawing inspiration from nature and the rich beautiful hues that she provides, tones are paired in complimenting schemes. The undeniable iridescence and majesty of a dragonfly is the layout for one dress. Every aspect of the overall styling is considered in these looks: classic silhouettes balance with the complexity of the beadwork.
All in the Details
Keep your eye honed on each design’s finishing: each creation has little surprises and touches that aren’t done justice in their photos. You can harness your inner wild child with a pattern drawn from nature’s palette. Vibrant tiger prints contrast a pairing with wispy feathers and fish scales serve as a delicate pattern that finishes in a scalloped hemline. Belted waistlines, asymmetrical necklines, and skirts lined in a contrasting color compose the very touches on this collection that will endear you.
Classic Hollywood
Always a popular choice among many high level beauty competitions, Sherri Hill has again delivered designs that draw on iconic fashion history with modern finishing. Form flattering mermaid gowns exude grace, leading with hourglass lines and leaving with elegant sweep trains. One-shoulder designs draw on red carpet standards of drama with opulent fabrics and bold prints.
No matter what this Fall season brings for you look to Sherri Hill for dramatic full-length gowns, curve hugging sheaths, and flirty cocktail lengths creations; perfect for every occasion.
